Local Oil and Cheese Festival in Escalaplano, Sardinia
From Saturday, 30th May to Sunday, 31st May 2009, Escalaplano is holding its fourteenth food festival celebrating Lentiscus Oil and Axridda Cheese. An unmissable event if you are on holiday in Sardinia. This display of typical local products is accompanied by presentations of archaeological, cultural and scenic routes, musical entertainment and a show provided by local dance school students. There will be Sardinian and ballroom dancing competitions for adults and groups. The focus of attention will be on unique items produced by local craftspeople, and on the opening of farm food expos.
The second day, during which various folk groups will be performing, will show how the oil and cheese are produced, the use of wood and how the bread is baked. It will also be possible to taste the area's typical flavours, seasoned of course with Lentiscus oil. Unforgettable moments to get to know Sardinia, way beyond the extraordinary charm this holiday destination is famous for.
