Né carne né pesce in Alghero

On 7 and 8 October 2011 your holidays in Sardinia will be enriched by a fascinating gastronomic journey, a series of evenings with unusual marine food, which will be served together with explanations of a marine biologist.

The event will be held at a wine bar in Alghero, the Esplanade, located in the beautiful old town, then the participants will move to the Alghero sea theme shop 'Mare sulla Terra'. Né carne né pesce (Neither fish nor fowl) is proposed as an extraordinary route which aims to enhance the less known or scarcely estimated sea products, in particular some fish species.

Ventodivento in Porto Torres

From 4 to 6 August 2011 in Porto Torres (Province of Sassari, Sardinia) opens Ventodivento, a festival dedicated to art, poetry, music, and the traditions that speak of a country. The theme of the wind is being delved into through exhibitions, conferences, and meetings to be held in the surroundings of Porto Torres.

The nature of Sardinia is a succession of forests, countryside and shores facing on a crystal clear sea, an oasis that is an endless inspiration for those who have lived and still live it, celebrating it in literature and plays, including debates and conferences: a series of colourful projects that this festival seeks to hold together and of which is itself an exemplary expression.

The Knights Templar and Sardinia

Until 25 September 2011, Tempio Pausania (Province of Sassari) will host an exhibition about the role of the Knights Templar in the island. Organized by the Office for Cultural Heritage, it makes an explicit reference to specific sites attended by the Knights and offers plenty of material for new insights.

Your holidays in Sardinia are enriched by a further reason for interest: the history of the island and the function held by foreign peoples can be explained in relation to the geographic borderline location, with reference to the main Mediterranean routes and the Muslim domains. The natural beauty of the area is well complemented by additional reasons for interest and exploration.

1950s and 60s on show in Nuoro

Experiencing a stay in Sardinia also means being able to retrace its history and culture: the art exhibition held in Nuoro, until 29 May 2011, is an invitation to get closer to the second post-war period, through the eyes and feelings of the authors which have found expression in these productions.

It is about more than 40 works belonging to the Rome Galleria d'Arte Moderna (Gallery of Modern Art), which are a means to look out on the Italian society of the past half century: the anxieties, hopes, strengths and disappointments, filtered through the consciousness of individuals. One reason that urges to relive the roots of its historical past.

Ingrao exhibition in Cagliari

On 15 March 2011 in Cagliari, the Municipal Gallery of Art is hosting an exhibition of paintings and sculptures formerly owned by Francesco Paolo Ingrao: over two hundred works spread among many rooms, which offer a broad overview of art at the turn of the century, clearly showing its development.

Donated to the city by the heirs of the collector, these works are just some of many treasures of art and culture, kept and preserved, making a holiday in Sardinia attractive, well beyond the merits of the natural landscape. Not just the tourists looking for relaxation and fun, but also the culture-aholics may find satisfaction in it.
